Originally released in 2002, Bonjour was released to simplify the process of detecting and connecting devices using PCs. For example, every time the iTunes app wants to synch with the iPhone or iPad, it uses Apple Bonjour to discover the device, establishes a secure connection, and manage active data transfers.
